Helping the Harvest

October saw a bumper harvest of vegetables on Trinity Farm and some of our learners in The Sanctuary helped harvest them. We love the farm and find that it has a beneficial impact on our wellbeing.

It’s so nice to be able to see the animals, help look after them and do a spot of gardening.

We have learned so much about animal care and growing vegetables over the last few months. So many studies have been done about the advantages of getting out in the garden and it’s been proven to reduce anxiety, help us stay physically fit and also boost our immune system. We also find that it helps learners engage socially so that firm friendships are made and relationships between staff and learners are strengthened.

Here you can see the fruits of our labour, or rather, vegetables! We harvested cabbage, potatoes, turnips and onions and you can see from the pictures. We even had pumpkins ready for Halloween! We’re already looking forward to seeing what we will have in the spring and summer.
