Mindfulness and Reflection

This term has been exciting, and we have been establishing new groups and introducing new experiences such as forest school (watch this space!).

While this is very exciting, some learners have found this challenging. To help and support learners with these changes, we have dedicated times at the beginning and end of the day for reflection and mindfulness. During these sessions learners use a traffic light system which uses red, orange and green emojis to identify how they feel and best reflects their mood. This opens up a line of communication between staff and learners to communicate and share feelings. Learners celebrate their positives and discuss the challenges they have experienced each day. We also use breathing exercises and end the sessions with a fun social game to unwind. This has been beneficial while we adjust to new structure and routine for both staff and learners, and we are very proud of everyone!
