Virtual School Council

Last term our learners faced a lot of changes. Another lockdown was not something anyone wanted. At Trinity Upper Site the learners persevered through the challenges, some of them attending lessons remotely via teams and some of them continuing to attend the school site.
As a school council, it was imperative that learners still had a voice in the school and continued the great work that had already started before the third lockdown. Although the school was slightly quieter as not all were present in the building, ideas to adapt Trinity Academy Upper Site still needed to be spoken about and implemented.
Through teams, school council members who were learning at home and members who were still in school could meet virtually to have weekly meetings. Weekly meetings were partly dedicated to wellbeing, ensuring learners at home could voice concerns about the remote learning experience as well as a chance to chat with their peers freely. Key stage 3 members discussed cooking and food and always got in-school learners stomachs rumbling with tales of Banana bread and Chicken Dinners!
Now everyone has returned to school, in-person school council meetings have resumed and members who were at home have not felt at a disadvantage with ongoing projects.
