A group of our year 9 learners visited Ouseburn Farm this week to explore jobs in the Farming/Animal Care industry. We met the staff, heard about their roles and routes, but also got to herd sheep and feed the animals. We even came home with a carrot to grow! There was a near miss that we needed to report- the cow broke through the fence while attempting to eat the sheep food and almost escaped! Fortunately, the staff reacted quickly and imaginatively by luring the animal away from the broken fence with a bucket full of sheep food. Everyone was safe, a day in the life of a farmer…
