Letter to my Younger Self

Some of the Year 11 learners who stayed with us after the official leaving date were asked to write a letter to their younger selves. Not a very easy task, but after some discussion, we discovered most of what they all wanted to write had similar themes. Obviously, one thing which was unanimous was “Don’t sweat the small stuff! We all decided that there was far too much time spent worryingly unnecessarily in the last few years of school.

Learners obviously would have liked the advice on how to get through GCSE in a Pandemic! They would also have liked a selection of winning Lottery numbers.

It was really special reading how very strongly learners felt about their time at Trinity. We wish all learners at Trinity (past and present) the very best of luck.

Here are a couple of snapshots of their work.

‘Stay determined and stick in. Believe in yourself and don’t stress over the small things. Keep up the good work, this one I can’t stress enough because you grow to love English and become brilliant at it. Strive for creativity as it defines who you are.’ Justin

‘Make sure you get good grades for your future job and make your family as proud as you can. Make sure that you keep Mam happy and your brother happy and do what makes you happy as well. Make sure you make your dreams come true and do your best in life.’ Kyle

‘You will overcome this pandemic by being yourself and doing the right thing. You will suffer losses and feel pain (in the family) but stay strong you can do this! People you loved will pass but believe in a brighter future, please. You will meet new friends and some old ones too and you will cherish the moments. I know you’re going to struggle with the situations ahead but the best thing to do, honestly, is you.’ Harry
